LaVar Ball and his sons star in an ESPN spoof video with ‘fourth brother’ rapper Lil Dicky

After LaVar Ball and Lonzo Ball have made several appearances on different ESPN shows over the past couple months, their family is now included in an ESPN spoof video about the “unknown Ball brother,” rapper Lil Dicky.

Lil Dicky is a rapper who makes a lot of sports references in his songs and who had Jim Harbaugh on stage with him at a concert a year ago. In this video, he messes around with the Ball family.

Maybe this is to help promote the rapper since he just dropped a new music video for his song Pillow Talk, or maybe, um, actually I have no idea why else this would happen. It’s pretty random, but anyway, here are some highlights:
  • Lonzo holds LaMelo while Lil Dicky gives him a noogie (yes, really).
  • LaVar screams, “Who’s better than Michael Jordan?” Lil Dicky responds, while Lonzo, LaMelo and LiAngelo laugh, “It’s not you, you’re not better than Michael Jordan, and you know what? The whole world knows it and they’re laughing that you said you are. They’re all laughing.”
  • At the end, LaVar says of Lil Dicky, “Honestly, that boy’s special. He’s gonna be the world’s greatest rapper. I’m just giving him tough love, but his rap game? He’s built for this.”

Lil Dicky Claims This Is The 49th Most Expensive Video Of All Time

Comedy rapper Lil Dicky’s “Pillow Talk” is a truly wild song — evolving from an awkward one-night stand conversation to an existential meditation on vegetarians, Pangaea, dinosaurs, and the existence of an almighty creator. “Pillow Talk” is supposedly Dicky’s favorite song from his debut album, Professional Rapper. Accordingly, Dicky and director Tony Yacenda went all out for the song’s video, an 11-minute short film that casts John C. Reilly as God and rapper Brain as Dicky’s animated, talking brain. There are CGI aliens, dinosaurs, and talking wolves, all amounting to reportedly the 49th most expensive video of all time, which is just mind-boggling to me given my admittedly unreliable understanding of how much music videos are supposed to cost. This thing cost $700,000, which puts it roughly between the cost of Britney Spears’ “Hold It Against Me” and “Oops!…I Did It Again” videos. Watch the absurd visual below and try to wrap your head around just how much CGI actually costs.
