First Kristen Stewart made the chop for her new movie role, then Zoe Kravitz followed suit, ditching with her long, blonde braids for a pixie cut, and just this week Katy Perry got a buzzed, blonde do of her own. And today, Cara Delevingne also officially joined this no-hair posse, posting a picture of her chopped off locks.
The model turned actress turned coming-of-age novelist has only been sporting her white blonde hair since the beginning of March, debuting the fresh dye job during a night out on the town with Kendall Jenner and Sasha Lane in the midst of Paris Fashion Week. But just one month later, Cara is clearly already over the look, posting a photo to her Instagram stories on Thursday night of a pile of her own hair with pastel pink and purple streaks throughout on the floor with the words “oh no!” written over the top.
She then unveiled herdaring beauty move later that night with a close up shot of the pastel-streaked pixie, and a video of her boxing with the new do. And it should come as no surprise; at the end of last month Cara told us all this moment was forthcoming.
Explaining her then white-blonde bob at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, she said, “I have to shave my head for my next part, so I have to do something different, so I dyed it. Just for fun. Just to change it up.” But with Kristen, Katy, Zoë, and Cara all aboard this close-cropped bandwagon, it’s got us wondering, since when did the Biebz become such a major beauty muse?
CARA DELEVINGNE SHAVES OFF HER HAIR, SHOCKS INSTAGRAM WITH NEW LOOK
When the history books are written, besides all the unpleasantness with Trump, Assad, Putin and Kim Jong-Un, 2017 will probably be remembered as the year everyone chopped their damn hair off and surprised the heck out of Instagram.
Katy Perry did it, Kristen Stewart did it, Gigi Hadid had a go - although it appears that was just some kind of elaborate April Fools thing - and now Cara Delevingne has gone and lopped all her tresses off.
"I have to shave my head for my next part, so I have to do something different," the model-turned-actress told USA Today last month. "So I dyed it. Just for fun. Just to change it up."
After showing up with cotton candy pink streaks, Delevingne teased Snapchat with a photo of a chunk of lopped off hair, then followed up with the big reveal.
The new look is for the upcoming film Life In A Year, in which Delevingne stars alongside Jaden 'Most Trees Are Blue' Smith. Per the plot description on IMDB:
"The movie follows a 17 year old, who finds out that his girlfriend is dying, so he sets out to give her an entire life, in the last year she has left."
Cara Delevingne Reveals a Shocking Pastel Pixie Cut on Instagram
Cara Delevingne is the latest ingenue to part ways with a few game-changing inches of hair. The model turned actress took a cue from Zoë Kravitz, teasing followers with an Instagram story that showed a just-shorn crop of platinum hair—streaked with pale pink—lying on the floor. Delevingne captioned the image “Oh no!” leaving followers to speculate for a full 22 hours before sharing the end result.
The actress presented a pink pixie this afternoon with a revealing selfie, replete with gilded lion earrings, a collective of silver chains, and a black bandana positioned over her new close-cropped lengths. “I'm coming for you,” read the caption, referencing her role in Life in a Year, the same forthcoming film that prompted co-star Jaden Smith to ditch his trademark lengths.
Two dramatic haircuts is coincidence, but three is a trend: between Delevingne, Kravitz, and current Vogue cover star Katy Perry’s recent radical pixie-length transformations, it seems that, for those who have taken the platinum plunge, an abbreviated mane is the mandatory next step.
