A representative for the Oscar-winning actress said Friday that Portman and husband, Benjamin Millepied, welcomed daughter Amalia on Feb. 22.
This is the second child for Portman and Millepied, who wed in 2012. Their son, Aleph, is 5.
Portman, 35, was celebrated during Hollywood's recent awards season for her starring role in "Jackie." She was nominated for best actress at Sunday's Academy Awards, but she did not attend the ceremony.
Millepied, 39, is a dancer and choreographer who worked on the film "Black Swan." He is the founder and director of L.A. Dance Project, a contemporary dance company that works with emerging and established artists.

Natalie Portman confirms the real reason she skipped the Oscars - she had just given birth
Natalie Portman is a new mother - again.
The actress and her husband Benjamin Millepied have welcomed a little girl, a baby sister for their five-year-old son Aleph.'
The baby was born on 22 February, according to her representative, who says, "mother and baby are happy and healthy."
Natalie skipped the Oscars on Sunday (due to her "pregnancy" - she released a statement which read: "Due to my pregnancy, I am unable to attend the Independent Spirit Awards and the Academy Awards. I feel so lucky to be honoured among my fellow nominees and wish them the most beautiful of weekends."
The 35-year-old received nominations at both awards shows for her role as Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in Jackie. She missed out on the Oscar when Emma Stone won gold for La La Land, but it seems she already had a big prize - her baby daughter.
Natalie confirmed her second pregnancy during an appearance on U.S. TV show The Tonight Show in November, two months after sporting what appeared to be a baby belly at the Venice Film Festival in September.
She later admitted she had hoped no one would notice she was pregnant on the red carpet: "I thought I was gonna be able to hide it a little longer and then we got there and I was like, 'It's not hide-able any more... The stomach wants to be out...'"
Notoriously private, the actress has kept the baby details to herself, but during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the U.S., Natalie opened up, admitting hitting red carpets while pregnant is not fun.
"It does make you look forward to the day when you can just have your own body on the red carpet," the actress laughed, before chatting about her cravings.
"With Aleph it was very (different)...," she said. "I wanted cream puffs, anything dessert with cream in it, or just plain cream straight. This time it's, like, healthy - pineapple, cucumbers, burritos, which is maybe less healthy, but delicious."
Natalie Portman’s New Baby Girl’s Name Is One Of The Top Choices For 2017
Natalie Portman was a little too busy to attend this year’s Academy Awards, and her fans were left scratching their heads wondering why she didn’t show. She was nominated for Best Actress, after all. It turns out the actress was preoccupied caring for her newborn baby girl, who was born four days before the Oscars on February 22, E! News reports. Congratulations, Natalie!
So, yeah… I’d say she was a tad busy after giving birth to her child. We can’t blame her for sitting this one out. If you’ve been oblivious to the fact that Natalie Portman was even pregnant to begin with, you probably aren’t alone. The actress was extra secretive and didn’t post any photos or updates on social media throughout the duration of her pregnancy.
