But after seeing him on the SAG Awards red carpet on Sunday night along with his 15-year-old lookalike son, some people are beginning to question the nature of his reality—and the alchemical, gravity-defying magic of his cheekbones.
Marsden, who's 43 and has acted in everything from Saved By the Bell to X-Men to 30 Rock, told red carpet reporters that it's now his son's time to shine. "My time is over. I'm literally passing on the baton to the next generation," he said to E! News. As for 15-year-old Jack? The dapper Marsden mini-me said his interest currently lies in music.

James Marsden brings lookalike son, Jack, to the 2017 SAG Awards
James Marsden just won coolest dad of the year -- because he brought his teenage son, Jack, to the SAG Awards on Sunday night.
The 43-year-old actor brought his lookalike kiddo, 15, to the show and joked that while he's the star of the family, he's really trying to keep up with his cool kid.
"We're excited. I'm just trying to keep up with him, the dress, the attire, he wears things I can't," the "Westworld" star said during PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly's red carpet pre-show.
Jack hit the show wearing an all-black ensemble, a set of sunglasses, and sported platinum blonde hair. He definitely had a cooler look than his A-list dad, but Marsden definitely didn't disappoint either and looked fashion forward in a navy tux jacket, black tux pants and a red flower on his lapel.
Marsden is nominated tonight for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
Jack is Marsden's son from his marriage to ex-wife Mary Elizabeth Linde. They are also parents to 11-year-old Mary. The actor also has a 4-year-old son, William Luca, from a another relationship.
"He's a great kid, he doesn't need much advice, I go to him for advice," gushed about his son to E!
Talk about a super proud dad.
